2000 Chevrolet Prizm

Automobiles

The 2000 to 2002 models included variable valve timing with intelligence on the 1ZZ FE engine. The Prizm was built alongside the Toyota Corolla at NUMMI in Fremont, California, as the Chevrolet badged third generation sold only in the United States. The flawed piston ring design that affected all engines without VVT i ultimately caused oil burning in higher mileage examples. The 2000 models were sold with variable valve timing on the new engine.
