In 1988 four new colors were introduced, Bright Blue Metallic, Forest Green Metallic, Light Mesa Brown Metallic and Dark Mesa Brown Metallic, and General Motors eliminated the K5 emblems. More new features for 1988 included a fixed mast antenna in place of the old windshield antenna and a trip odometer. The GMT400 trucks were introduced in the spring of 1987 as a 1988 model, but the K5 Blazer retained the earlier platform until 1991.
