For 2016 the Chevrolet Equinox received its first mid cycle refresh, along with its cousin the GMC Terrain, which was unveiled at the 2015 Chicago Auto Show on February 12, 2015. The Equinox was reintroduced in Mexico to replace the Captiva Sport for the 2016 model year. It was still assembled in Ontario and Tennessee under the arrangement that had held since the 2010 model year. The refresh came in the seventh year of the second generation.
