The last C3, the 1982, introduced the Cross-Fire Injection system, a throttle body fuel injection that was different from the injection of earlier Corvettes. Chevrolet knew it was the last year of the generation and offered a Collector Edition with its own serial numbers, silver beige paint, unique wheels patterned on those of the 1967 car and an operable rear hatch window. The Collector Edition, the last of the C3 cars, was finished in silver beige and had its own serial number sequence.
