A five door hatchback model of the Corsica was introduced for 1989, as was an LTZ performance package that included many suspension parts from the Beretta. The Corsica and Beretta were built together at Wilmington Assembly and Linden Assembly, and the Corsica was the car sold in Canada, Israel and the Gulf countries as the Pontiac Tempest. The 1989 Corsica added the hatchback to the sedan, in the third model year of the nameplate.
