The Corsica was first sold as a fleet car to rental agencies and large companies in 1987, prior to mainstream release. Taking its name from the French Mediterranean island, it was the successor of the Chevrolet Citation, sold initially as a four door sedan. It was built on the L platform alongside the Beretta at the Wilmington Assembly plant in Delaware. The 1987 Corsica was the first model year of the car, sold as a fleet car before the dealer release.
