A naturally aspirated SS was added to the Cobalt lineup for 2006, joining the supercharged SS of the first model year. The Pontiac G4 was sold in Mexico as the Cobalt's twin for 2005 and 2006, before the Pontiac G5 took over in the United States and Mexico for 2007 to 2009, while the G5 was sold in Canada for the whole run, where it was briefly known as the Pontiac Pursuit. The Cobalt SS was the sport version of the line.
