For the 1986 model year the Chevette base model was discontinued, leaving only the CS and the S, which featured a third brake light, a service engine soon light replacing the check engine light, and a new bowtie emblem. The last Chevette was manufactured on December 23, 1986 at Lakewood Assembly, after the end of production at Wilmington Assembly in September 1985. The 1986 Chevette lost its base model, and was built until December 1986.
