1981 Chevrolet Chevette

Automobiles

In August 1981 a diesel engine option became new, with late 1981 availability, a 1.8 liter Isuzu unit only available coupled to an Isuzu five speed. Electronic spark timing was used on 1981 models in place of mechanical timing advance. The Pontiac T1000 was introduced in the spring of 1981, and Chevrolet sold 433,000 Chevettes in 1981. The 1981 Chevette was in its sixth model year, with the diesel option and a Pontiac sister.
