The 1976 Malibu Classic received a crosshatch grille flanked by two stacked rectangular sealed beam headlamps, while lesser models had a waterfall grille and kept the single round lamps. Three V8 engines were available, a new 305 cubic inch of 140 horsepower, a 350 of 165 horsepower and a 400 of 175 horsepower. The Laguna Type S-3, little changed in its third and final year, saw production edge up to 9,100 cars.
