The 1994 models were also carryovers, as a redesign of the Cavalier was in development, and they were the last of the second generation, which had begun as a restyle in 1987 for 1988 and was refreshed in 1991. For 1993 and 1994 the Cavaliers sold in Mexico featured Sunbird body panels instead of the United States Cavalier panels. The 1994 Cavalier was the seventh and last model year of the second generation, which had come to Mexico in 1990, replacing the Chevrolet Celebrity there.
