From 2011 the Caprice nameplate returned to North America as a full size rear wheel drive police vehicle, the Caprice Police Patrol Vehicle, a captive import from Australia built by Holden and announced on October 5, 2009. It carried the 6.0 liter L77 AFM V8, which was standard in 2011, and a 3.6 liter V6 became available nine months later. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department gave it perfect scores in an assessment.
