The Bel Air received a major redesign for 1959, on a 119 inch wheelbase and 211 inches long, which was eleven inches longer than the 1957 model and wider both outside and in. The X frame from 1958 was continued but enlarged and strengthened. The Bel Air, which had been the top line series since 1953, was now the middle of the range, below the Impala. Little change was made for 1960. Its model years run from 1959 to 1960.
