On 11 March 2022 Magna Steyr halted production of the BMW Z4, along with the 5 Series, for two weeks because of the lack of components caused by the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The LCI model, the facelift of the G29 Z4, was introduced in September 2022. The Z4 was built by the Austrian contract manufacturer Magna Steyr. The soft top roadster was built in Graz in Austria, together with the 5 Series, the Toyota Supra and other cars of the Magna Steyr plant.
