The G29 Z4 was available for sale in March 2019, built under contract by Magna Steyr in Graz, Austria. A six speed manual transmission was made available for only the sDrive20i from July 2019. The Z4 was in its first year of sales, the 2019 model year, with a soft top roof, the first for a Z series car since the Z3. The 2019 model year car was thus both the first to be launched in Paris in October 2018 and the first on sale.
