The second generation X6 was launched at the 2014 Paris Motor Show featuring a new eight speed automatic transmission and a slightly larger luggage bay, with sales in most markets commencing by the end of 2014. The xDrive50i benefited from a newer twin turbo 4.4 liter V8 producing 445 horsepower at 5500 rpm and 480 pound feet of torque. Like the E71 it was built at the Greer plant. The F16 replaced the E71, which had been in production since December 2007.
