The G65 is the fifth generation X5, which succeeds the G05 and is the first X5 to get a battery electric variant, the iX5. It takes design cues from the Neue Klasse generation, with small kidney grilles and X shaped daytime running lights, but keeps the CLAR platform instead of the new dedicated one. It has no split tailgate and no third row, and a China only long wheelbase G78 was unveiled on 27 July 2026. Its model year runs in 2026.
