The M40i was officially revealed at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show, producing 355 horsepower and 343 pound feet of torque from its turbocharged six cylinder engine, and it went on sale from February 2016. The X4 was the second SAC from BMW and widely considered a coupe version of the X3, trading practicality for a sloping rear roof and sportier styling. The M40i was the top model of the X4 line in 2016 and the X4 arrived in more markets that year.
