In July 2018 BMW introduced the ability to option the X3 with the sDrive intelligent rear wheel drive system. The Alpina XD3 made its debut at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show with an Alpina modified diesel engine, and the iX3 electric concept was presented at the 2018 Beijing Motor Show in April, a first battery electric BMW SUV that would reach production in 2020. The G01 was in its first full year, produced at Spartanburg and Rosslyn.
