The 20,000th i8 was produced in December 2019, one of the limited Ultimate Sophisto Edition models, a special edition marking the end of the car's run. In 2019 the i8 coupe and roadster were both on sale, with the larger 11.6 kWh battery, and the production of the i8 was due to end in the following year at Leipzig. The Ultimate Sophisto Edition finished the series and was among the last i8 models produced.
