The i3 ranked third amongst electric cars sold worldwide from 2014 to 2016 and won two World Car of the Year awards for 2014, as World Green Car of the Year and World Car Design of the Year. It also won UK Car of the Year 2014 and Best Supermini of 2014, and an iF Product Design Gold Award, in its first full year of sales as the 2014 model. The i3 was the third best selling electric car in the world that year.
