Details of the 6 Series Gran Turismo were released online on 14 June 2017, and the car was officially unveiled at the 2017 Frankfurt International Auto Show in September. The G32 was based upon the G30 5 Series and replaced the 5 Series Gran Turismo F07. The 640d diesel, the second diesel model, was released later in September 2017. It was the second Gran Turismo that BMW had made, after the 5 Series Gran Turismo F07.
