The 6 Series Gran Turismo G32 was discontinued in August 2023 with no successor. This ended the use of the 6 Series nameplate, which had been used since 1976 for the E24, E63, F12 and G32 models, with the nameplate gone from the BMW range for the first time since the 1989 to 2003 hiatus. The role was taken by the 5 Series Touring and other BMW models. The nameplate had been in use for 47 years from 1976, with the gap of fourteen years between the E24 and the E63.
