At the 2015 Detroit Auto Show BMW introduced the facelift, called LCI, of the F06, F12 and F13 models, with design changes and minor performance and fuel economy improvements. The mid life update brought the third generation 6 Series closer to the new 7 Series in appearance, with new lighting, and was the main change of the model's fifth year. The facelift came four years after the F12 convertible's introduction at the Detroit show.
