The four door Gran Coupe, the F06, was launched in March 2012 at the Geneva International Motor Show, with production beginning that month, and it was based on the 2007 CS Concept. The M6 was launched in the coupe body style alongside the Gran Coupe at the 2012 Geneva show and at Leipzig in convertible form, with the S63 4.4 liter twin turbo V8. Both M6 versions used the S63 twin turbo V8, which was also fitted to the M5.
