2009 was the sixth year of the E63 and E64 6 Series, which BMW kept on sale in its grand tourer class with the coupe and convertible in Dingolfing. The cars were sold with petrol and diesel engines, and the M6 was at the top of the range. The successor generation was being readied for its launch in 2011. The coupe and convertible were built at the Dingolfing BMW plant alongside the 5 and 7 Series.
