In January 2010 the F10 5 Series began production as the successor to the E60, bringing the E60 and E61 generation to an end after seven years. The E60 and E61 were the fifth generation of the 5 Series, with the M5 V10 produced until 2010 and the 5 Series Touring estate as an important part of the line. It was the end of a significant era for BMW's design. The F10 launched on 20 March 2010 to the domestic market and the F11 followed in summer 2010.
