1995 BMW 5 Series (E39)

The E39 pre production cars rolled off the pilot line from February 1995 starting with the 523i and 528i models, followed by the 520i in March, the 525td and 540i in April and the 535i in October. It premiered in September 1995 at the Frankfurt Motor Show, full scale production started that month and sales of saloon models began on the European mainland in December. Development had run for 39 months from the design selection in 1992 until the start of production.
