The 1502 continued until 1977, the last of the 02 Series, after the rest of the range had been replaced in 1975 by the E21 3 Series. The 02 Series had been built from 1966, and the larger displacement 2002 had established a new reputation for BMW. In 1978 Baur presented a TopCabriolet version of the succeeding 3 Series, a decade after the 2002 TopCabriolet. BMW ended the 02 Series that year. The 02 Series had lasted eleven years.
