In 1969 the simple name Mini completely replaced the separate Austin and Morris brands, ending the Austin Mini as a model name. A fibreglass version of the Mini Mark II was developed for British Leyland's Chilean subsidiary that year. The car had been sold as an Austin since 1959, and from 1969 it continued under the Mini marque, which is covered on the Classic Mini page. The Austin Mini name thus ended after ten years, replaced by the Mini marque in the BMC range.
