1938 Austin Eighteen

Automobiles

For the 1938 season the engine of the Eighteen benefited from a higher compression ratio, bigger valves and an aluminium cylinder head with a thermostat fitted. The aluminium heads often cracked when they were removed. The car was by then in its second season, a large saloon whose braking came from Girling rod brakes with a design similar to the Austin 14 Goodwood and whose steering column was adjustable for length.
