The Austin A40 Somerset was built by the Austin Motor Company from 1952, replacing the A40 Devon, and was initially offered as only a four door saloon. A three passenger two door convertible of the same body style was introduced in late 1952. The Somerset of 1952 was a development of the Devon and Dorset, the first post war saloons from Austin, and in all about two years of production followed. The convertible was a three passenger two door model.
