The A35 passenger cars were replaced in 1959 by the new body shape A40 Farina models, but the A35 estate car version continued until 1962 and the van until 1968. By 1959 the A35, a small family car sold by Austin since 1956, was in its fourth year, and the earlier A30 from which it was developed had been in production from 1952. The Farina body replaced the A35 passenger car that year. The A40 Farina took over the saloon.
