Two door variants of the Austin A30 were introduced in late 1953, since the car had originally only been offered as a four door saloon. The A30 had been launched as the New Austin Seven, a small family car produced by Austin, and in 1953 it was in its second year of production, with the Morris Minor as its main competitor. It was offered as a two door as well as the four door model, a development of the car in its second year of production.
