The Austin 3-Litre appeared at the London Motor Show in 1967, shown by Austin. It was codenamed ADO61 and was intended to be BMC's offering in the 3 litre executive class. Its 125 bhp 3 liter engine drove the rear wheels through a conventional four speed gearbox, unlike the visually similar but smaller front wheel drive Morris 1800 range, and few or none seem to have been sold in 1967. It was a luxury car for the executive market.
