The Bentley Continental is a name Bentley has applied to a series of luxury grand touring cars beginning with the R-Type Continental of 1952, whose aerodynamic fastback coachwork made it one of the fastest and most expensive production cars of its day. The name was revived in 2003 for the Continental GT, a new generation of high performance luxury coupe and, later, saloon and convertible models that became central to the modern Bentley range.
