The Series 400, sold as the Q400, is the largest and fastest version of the De Havilland Canada Dash 8. It is stretched 6.83 metres (22.4 ft) over the Series 300 and carries 68 to 90 passengers, using Pratt and Whitney Canada PW150A engines rated at 4,850 shp (3,620 kW) and cruising at 360 knots (667 km/h). First built in 1999 and in service from 2000, it was the only Dash 8 series still in production after 2009, with 585 delivered by the 2018 sale to Longview and Viking. Variants include the Q400 NextGen, the Q400CC cargo combi, the DHC-8-402PF freighter and the airtanker used for aerial firefighting. De Havilland Canada announced a pause in production in 2021 and left its Downsview factory in 2022.
