Air transport carried out by an unmanned aerial vehicle, or drone, flown without a pilot on board, either under remote human control or largely autonomous computer control. Drone transport is used for small parcel and medical supply delivery, aerial photography and survey work, and increasingly for short hop urban cargo movement, and it is distinguished from traditional air cargo chiefly by the absence of any crew aboard the aircraft itself.
