Vehicle and Equipment Manufacturers

Nieuport was a French aircraft maker founded in 1909 by Edouard de Niéport, which became famous for its fast, agile sesquiplane fighters in the First World War, among them the Nieuport 11 and Nieuport 17. Flown by the French, British, Belgian, Italian, Russian and American air services, these aircraft helped end German air superiority in 1916. After the war the firm continued under the name Nieuport-Delage and later merged with other French aircraft makers.
