Bombardier CRJ700 series

Airliners and Commercial Jet Aircraft

The Bombardier CRJ700 series is a family of regional jet airliners designed and manufactured by Bombardier. Development began in 1994 under the CRJ-X programme to create larger versions of the CRJ100 and CRJ200, and the series was officially launched in 1997. The CRJ700 made its maiden flight on 27 May 1999 and was followed by the stretched CRJ900 and the further elongated CRJ1000, with the CRJ550 and CRJ705 modified to comply with scope clauses. Extensive redesign meant the CRJ700 kept only about 15 percent of the CRJ200 airframe, and General Electric CF34-8C engines powered the early aircraft. In 2020 the Mitsubishi Aircraft Corporation acquired the CRJ programme and subsequently ended production; Bombardier built aircraft for Mitsubishi until the existing orders were filled in December 2020.
