Renault YL

Work and Industrial Vehicles

The Renault YL is a French farm tractor of the 1930s. It uses the engine of the Renault Celtaquatre car, a four-cylinder of 1.5 litres. It was presented in 1933 and 529 were built before it was replaced in 1938 by the Renault AFV, which took the engine of the Vivaquatre. Renault introduced pneumatic tyres on its tractors in 1933, the year the YL appeared, and by 1938 the company was building about 40 tractors a month and was the largest French tractor maker. The Tractor Data register of Renault tractors lists the YL among the models built at the Billancourt factory between 1933 and 1938, which matches the production span given by the French article.
