Renault N73

Work and Industrial Vehicles

The Renault N73, also called the Junior, is an agricultural tractor made by Renault. Counting its versions, standard and narrow (V73, the vineyard version), it was produced between 1960 and 1968. After the mixed success of the D16, the N73, entry model of a new range that better matched what customers expected, with power raised from 16 to 20 hp and new equipment, sold in more than 14,000 examples between 1 March 1960 and 1 June 1968. From 1960 Renault offered a new range called N, made at its Le Mans plant, and the N73 is the smallest of it, hence the nickname Junior; it was meant to replace the D16. The engine is the two-cylinder MWM diesel of 1,400 cubic centimetres already used on the D16, still air-cooled, with speed raised from 1,700 to 2,000 rpm; the six-speed gearbox is built under ZF licence and the hydraulic lift was developed by Bendix.
