Renault 160-94

The Renault 160-94 is a four-wheel-drive agricultural tractor produced by the Agriculture subsidiary of Renault, with a power of 150 hp DIN, in 325 examples between 1993 and 1997. From 1981 Renault developed ranges of tractors of rising power with very comfortable cabs, and at the end of the 1980s its strongest were the 155-54 (145 hp DIN) and the 180-94 (170 hp DIN), so an intermediate model was needed. It reached the market in 1993. Because Renault did not make transmissions strong enough for that power, it used, as on the 180-94, a transmission made by SAME, with nine speeds, three ranges and a reverser, for 27 speeds in both directions. The engine is an MWM six-cylinder in-line diesel of 6,234 cubic centimetres, the same as in the 110-54 and 133-14 but turbocharged. It is available only as the top TZ model, and its heavy use of electronics makes it little sought after used.
