The MB-trac was a range of agricultural tractors that Daimler-Benz developed and built from 1973 until 1991. It followed the trac design principle: four wheels of equal size, a frame carrying the engine and front axle, a cab set in the middle of the machine, and mounting points for implements at the front, behind the cab and behind the rear axle. Its drivetrain was shared with the Unimog, which the company had built since 1951, yet the MB-trac was a distinct machine with larger wheels better suited to farm and forestry work, and an unusual coil sprung front axle for better road handling. Four type series (440, 441, 442 and 443) covered light, medium and heavy duty versions, all driven by Mercedes-Benz diesel engines. About 41,000 were built before production ended on 17 December 1991.
