The Ford N-series tractors were a line of farm tractors built by Ford Motor Company from 1939 to 1952, made up of the 9N, 2N and 8N models. The 9N, first demonstrated at Dearborn, Michigan on 29 June 1939, was the first tractor to have both the Ferguson three-point hitch and a rear power take-off, and its layout was followed by other makers for about fifteen years. The 2N of 1942 was a wartime economy revision of the 9N, and the 8N of July 1947 added a four-speed transmission, more power and a position-control setting for the hydraulics. By some measures the 8N became the most popular farm tractor of all time in North America. The series was replaced in 1953 by the NAA, called the Golden Jubilee, and the partnership with Harry Ferguson ended in a patent lawsuit after Henry Ford II stopped supplying tractors to Ferguson's company.
