The Ford 5000 was a blue and white tractor that Ford produced from 1964 to 1975. It was a mid range tractor suited to European farms, and the North American version was slightly different and was named the Ford Major. A similar model, the Ford 3000, followed in the spring of 1965. In Great Britain it replaced the long running Fordson Major and sold exceptionally well, because it sat in the mid sized range that suited almost every British farmer, and it stayed in the top ten best selling tractors there until 2005. In Ireland, where Ford once had a factory in Cork, it became the third best selling tractor in the country's history. The firm E. Doe used two of them to build the articulated four wheel drive Doe 130 in 1964. The range was upgraded in 1968 into the Ford Force series, with the 5000 rated at 75 horsepower, and Ford retired it in 1975 after eleven years of production.
