Warships of the Age of Sail

Wooden sailing warships built for navies, such as the ship of the line and the frigate, which fought the great fleet actions of the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. An entry belongs here when the cited article calls the ship a ship of the line, frigate or sailing warship. It excludes merchant ships and oared galleys. Entries are placed by what their own cited article says, so each one sits in the narrowest group its source supports, and the group page lists it beside the other members.
