Cirrus SR22

General Aviation and Light Aircraft

The Cirrus SR22 is a single engine, four to five seat light aircraft with a composite airframe that Cirrus Design introduced in 2001, built as a faster, longer range companion to the smaller Cirrus SR20. It is best known for making a whole airframe parachute recovery system, deployable to lower the entire aircraft and its occupants to the ground in an emergency, a standard rather than optional feature, and it went on to become one of the best selling piston aircraft in the world.

FAQs

Besides the parachute, what helps keep a Cirrus SR22 out of trouble in flight?

The autopilot enables Electronic Stability and Protection, which helps correct unusual flight attitudes even when the autopilot is not engaged.

Cirrus describes the SR22 as having a digital, three-axis autopilot that enables Electronic Stability and Protection. According to the manufacturer, this feature passively and unobtrusively helps correct unusual flight attitudes, even when the autopilot is not engaged. It works alongside the whole airframe parachute, which Cirrus says it fits as standard equipment on all of its certified aircraft.
