The Frecciarossa 1000 is an Italian high-speed trainset built jointly by Bombardier and AnsaldoBreda (later absorbed into Hitachi Rail) for the state operator Trenitalia, entering commercial service in 2015 as the newest flagship of the Frecciarossa premium high-speed brand. Designed for a top operating speed of 350 kilometers per hour, it runs on Italy's high-speed network linking Milan, Rome and Naples and has also operated cross-border services into France and Spain, and its symmetrical design, with an identical nose at each end, was intended to reduce aerodynamic drag and noise compared with earlier Italian high-speed trains.
