Dogcart (carriage)

Animal- and Human-Powered Overland Vehicles

A dogcart is a light horse drawn cart that originally carried a boxed compartment beneath or behind the seat for transporting sporting dogs to a hunt, a feature that gives the vehicle its name. Over the nineteenth century the term broadened to describe a wider family of light two wheeled and four wheeled carriages with back to back or forward facing seating, used across Britain for everyday travel as well as for its original sporting purpose.
